Ya can't switch that fast to Compact Fluorescent(CF) bulbs from incandescent bulbs! No government mandates please.

In an effort to cut energy costs, many office buildings (and a greater percentage of private residences) have implemented X-10 and similar power line signaling products to switch on/off/dim lightbulbs and appliances. Unfortunately, many CF bulbs can't be used in connection with these popular lamp and appliance modules and almost no CF bulbs can be used with dim function switches. Also fluorescent light circuitry is very noisy and will likely interfere with other X-10 signal devices such as controllers and security systems.

Some later technology "Dimmable Spiral Fluorescent" can be used with X-10 energy/security/automation systems.

Good idea, but this proposed government mandate just might dim productivity of government workers.
